It's been coming down practically all day and it's still falling. Weather forecast says tomorrow too! Resolved to wrangle Tom into taking some photos of me in it. <3

Eavesdropped in a bar, naturally.

It's finally fall.

I've never really lived in a place that experiences actual changing seasons. Florida pretty much had two: summer, and three weeks at the end of January when you could put on a jacket.

So you can imagine my joy when Tom and I returned from a weekend at his folks' place to this:

There are leaves on the ground. There are leaves. On the ground. There are LEAVES on the GROUND!

And then we went to our favourite bar (it's got a rooftop patio, ooOOOoooo) and the sunset was glorious.

I'm participating in NaNoWriMo this year, and I think I'll be frequenting this place quite often to write (and drink) and outline (and drink). Anyone else on the NaNo wagon? Hope you're all keeping up with your word goals!

CASA CASA MIA.

In addition to making an exceptionally inspired and productive blog post about decorating this adorable little apartment, this is a perfect excuse to post more dARI tunes.


La mia 'casa casa mia' is bright and cozy... but pretty bare as far as furnishings go. I don't know whether to go all out decorating and enjoy this space, or do it sparingly since Tom and I don't know just how long we'll be living here.

One thing I do know... I need to get OFF the inflatable mattress bed. Oww, my back. :c

Okay. Maybe not so inspired and productive, since I'm now distracted by music videos.

ETA: Oh, what nonsense. "Casa Casa Mia" can't be embedded. Have "Ho Spaccato" instead. :P

FUN FACT. I have the same birthday as John Lennon.

My birthday yesterday was heaps of fun! Tom and I did indeed go to the farmer's market in the morning, and then to a craft fair in the square downtown, and THEN we went for beerz and sweet potato fries for lunch. Alas, I am out of the habit of carrying Caspian around with me all the time anymore, and I didn't take any pictures. WOE.

Paying for that today by lying around the house with some variation of the Creeping Ew. Both of us are sick and lazy, so all I've done today was troll the internet for pretty things. And... here is a Tumblr stash post.

Changes, changes.

As you can probably see by the header, this blog is still undergoing some changes. It is now called City Moth, which I think is more reflective of me and my personal aesthetic than RSP was.

My boyfriend and I are now living together in small-town Arizona, in a little apartment that I adore and will probably blog about when we start decorating it. Downtown is close by, as well as a nice green park. There are also scads of thrift stores about, and Tom suggested that I put my thrifting habit to good use and start selling some of the vintage-y things I find on my Etsy. So expect to see more of that sort of thing on the blog as well.

Moving was a big process so I haven't been updating quite as often as I should (Read: at all. Shame!), but it's my birthday tomorrow and Tom and I are going to the weekly farmer's market, so I'm sure I'll come back with pictures.

Just taking things one step at a time, really. If anyone's linked my blog to theirs, please update the URL with the name change! :D

Apparently it's based on books of the same name, but I've not read them. Past my time, maybe? Although I think I'll go investigate them... can't possibly be worse than the last book I read. (Which I've not-so-affectionately nicknamed Steampunk Twilight... perhaps I'll do a review.)

Trying something new.

My mom's been after me for ages to make her a pair of socks. We went to the yarn store to pick out some colours for her, and I came home with these beauties.
Noro is a Japanese yarn that really reminds me of lovely Japanese flower gardens, all bright and a little misty and magical. I see this stuff everywhere and I lovelovelove the colourways, but I've never actually bought any before. This particular kind is the Kureyon sock yarn, and it feels a little rougher than what I usually like to buy, but I'll give it a go.
The purple and blue is what my mom picked for her socks, and the green and teal... well, I'm sure I'll find some good use for it.

The only downside to this venture is... I've never made socks before. And I am stabbing the bloody life out of my fingertips with these teeny-weeny double-pointed needles that I have to use.
Just look at the pink in that skein. I want to make a fabulous accessory out of it. :D

The blog evolves.

I'm kind of about to embark on a new stage in my life, so I expect this blog to change a bit alongside.

I want to take more photographs. I want to write more, more stories, more opinions, more about my life. I want to show off my knitting a lot more. I want to show my personal style in addition to the Polyvores and the fashion mag photos.

I'll still keep posting inspirational things and commercial interests, but it is my blog, after all. I want to share a little more. I've been lax about it for a couple of months now and I don't want that to happen again. I like having a wee corner of internetz.

Plus, I need to work on building my knitted scarf empire. Herp derp.

Back in Real Life, my new laptop arrived yesterday. I did a proper brain transplant into it from my old computer, so this one's name will be Declan again. Very happy to be able to blog normally now! Only thing left to do is somehow apprehend a copy of Photoshop...

One of the best (or worst, maybe, after watching the video) things about learning a foreign language is the wonderful world of popular music that it opens up.


No lie, I love this song. I first heard -- or I guess saw -- it on a TV in a club in London. The sound was turned off, so all I found out at the end was the band name and song title. The la-la-la-la-eh-oh's are my favourite!

If I were a scene girl circa 2005, Dari would so be my favourite band. As I am, I like them anyway. Dammit, iTunes, let me buy music with Euro!

30. Make Dean's List for the rest of my semesters. Two down, ONE to go!

Blargh.

It's the last two weeks of school FOREVER and I feel like crap. I've been sick all weekend and it's going to be nothing but work work work until the end of the month.

I haven't been in much of a bloggy mood, but I've been all over my Tumblr, which, of course, you all are welcome to peruse.

Need some serious downtime. Ciao for now, intertubes.

Epic fail.

So, remember when I said I had a super crafty plan to go back to London for a while?

The study centre associated with my school hires graduated students into RA-type positions to live with the students, help them out, work in the program office, and organise travel. I sent in my application last month. And whaddya know, they decided I was awesome enough to have a phone interview!

So the interview was this past Thursday. I was all awake and ready and excited for it and everything, and I thought I did a good job and was nice and friendly to the three ladies running the program over there. They said that 7 interviewees were up for 5 positions, and that I'd hear something early next week!

Which turned out to be this morning, when I got an email that basically said "thanks, you're really great... but you're just not good enough, sorry".

Sad panda. :C

And now for something completely different.

My afternoon class is cancelled today, so I feel like doing something pointless and indulgent. And really, what's more pointless and indulgent than couture fashion? Maybe that famous ice cream sundae with gold leaf and gold spoons and imported African vanilla and a half dozen dairy butlers to serve it, but aside from that... not much.

Haute Macabre, one of my favourite favourite blogs, just featured the Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2010 collection (my, they do start early) and it is Truly Lovely. It has a frilly French-countryside-libertine-y feel that I like.

This dress was obviously very happy to make it to Paris Fashion Week.

The dress isn't my favourite of these, but I thought this picture was hilarious, as the model appears to have misplaced both an arm and a leg. No doubt that's a sign of how much the dress costs.

And this outfit would have been bad-ass if the model didn't look so displeased about the end of the runway. No, you can't just walk in that gorgeous coat forever, sorry.

These are just a couple of the looks I liked best. The soft, earthy colour palette is nice for spring, and I like all the ruffles and sleeves on the dresses. And the necklaces! The only thing I'm really not digging are the giant top hats. Maybe it's just my Alice disdain, but those look neither rakish nor elegant, just cartoony.

In other news, spring break was mostly great and I have some things to share from that, and I got some glorious new yarn that deserves a post all its own. Maybe later!
